A vintage silver gelatin print brought back from India, bearing the oval stamp of a Tamil Nadu photography studio inscribed in Tamil script — a now-vanished studio signature. The photograph, still in its original moulded wood frame, captures a group of some thirty children and their teacher in the classic composition of class photographs from the Indian subcontinent.
